National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) Water Supply Project

Project Details

National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) is the largest single economic zone in Bangladesh, located in the Feni and Chattogram District of Bangladesh. The initial plan of the proposed water transmission and distribution project is to supply water to the site using seawater desalination was found to be unfeasible. So, finding an alternative option to ensure a stable water supply to the economic zone became urgent. Since no river near the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) could meet the planned water demand, the Meghna River, about 100 km northwest of the economic zone, was inevitably selected as the most suitable water intake source. Accordingly, the facilities planned to convey the water include about 19.0 km of raw water transmission pipeline, 114.08 km of treated water transmission pipeline, and 17.66 km of distribution pipeline.
