Quantitative Risk Assessment

LPG Storage Facilities at Yamaha Motorcycle Manufacturing Plant

Project Details

The Yamaha Motorcycle Manufacturing Plant (YMMP) is in Barachala Village of Rajabari Union of Sreepur Upazila under Gazipur District. The production capacity of the plant is 110000-unit motorcycle per year. LPG is used as a heating source in the processing units. LPG needs to heat water and heat air in dryers. Omera Gas One Limited (OGL) has set up the LPG storage tank having capacity of 9,900 Liter. The company also supplies LPG via Bob-Tail Road tanker having capacity 8.5 MT. Daily consumption of LPG in the plant is 400 Kg. This QRA study focuses on the major hazard sources such as LPG storage and road tankers. Accident scenarios such as Jet fire, Vapor cloud explosion (VCE) and Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BLEVE) are being considered to determine the area of threat zone centering the LPG and road tanker. The significance of risk has been determined by frequency and consequence analysis.
